Need support from you: HCL-Community Service Council-Industrial Therapy Unit ( HCL-CSC-ITU) for differently-abled

Dear HCLite,

The best thing one can do in the world is - “Giving back to the society”. We at HCL strongly believe in this philosophy and practice it through CSC.

One of the initiatives of CSC is to evaluate residual capacities of differently-abled people and provide training to improve their skills. That’s not all, we also pay them a stipend to make them economically independent. The training program was interrupted in 2004 due to lack of support from volunteers.

HCL-CSC is continuing this service from this year. The training is provided with a monthly stipend of ` 3000/- per person. From this month onwards we foster the potential to ` 3100/- per person. This month we are training six people at the cost of ` 18,600/-. In addition, ` 5000/- is required to buy raw materials for the training. Total of 23,500 Rs is required for this month onwards. We need financial support.

At present, the training is provided by John, at HOP ITU-Industrial Therapy Unit, located near Moolakadai Jn. Chennai.

· Your liberal contribution for this noble cause would be much appreciated.
o We assure you that every single rupee that you contribute will be well-spent for a noble cause.

We are quite hopeful to continue to bring about change in the lives of these DIFFERENTLY-ABLED people. Our main objective towards this program is to get some employment for these differently able people in long run.

“We can do no great things, only small things with great love” ~ Mother Teresa

Our sister needs helping hand for her Kidney Transplantation

Our sister needs helping hand for her Kidney Transplantation...Give her a life as Raksha Bandhan gift!

Dear HCLites,
We have received a request from Udaya Kumar Kasthuri Mani of ETA Navalur.
His sister Nirmala M studying BCA in Jaya Arts & Science College is admitted to Sri Ramachandra Hospital, Porur two weeks back. This was due to anemia. But, the final diagnosis was devastating as both her kidneys needs to be transplanted (B –ve).
They have registered to:
Kadavar Kidney in Government General Hospital, Chennai(68th place and 2 lakhs for transplantation). They can claim 1 lakh using Kalaizhnar Kappeettu thitam.
Sri Ramachandra Hospital, Chennai(9th place and 5.5 lakhs for transplantation). They can claim 1.8 lakhs using Kalaizhnar Kappeettu thitam.
He has utilized 40,000/- from the Medical Claim (Hospitalization) and can claim only up to 1.6 lakhs. However, he can either claim from Kalaizhnar Kappeettu Thitam or Medi-Claim but not both (he has to submit originals receipts).
Apart from these expenses:She needs to undergo hemo-dialysis twice in a week. (.1,500 per dialysis - 12,000 / month! )She is supposed to undergo hemo-dialysis until kidney is transplanted on regular basis.
Her father being a farmer and mother a home-maker, Udaya is the only bread-earner in their family.Even Medi-Assist WILL NOT reimburse the dialysis expenses as he has already claimed the domiciliary expense for this year.
We wish to support his family to the maximum extent possible and seek your help! It will be of a great support for our colleague if you can lend your helping hands to him.
Either you can add him as a beneficiary and transfer whatever you wish to contribute:Bank: HDFC Bank, Branch: DLF – Ramapuram, ChennaiName: Udaya Kumar Kasthuri ManiA/c No: 18691610000312

Be a Rockstar Support a child's education: August 11-13

Orphan Statistics
Every 15 SECONDS, another child becomes an AIDS orphan
Every DAY 5,760 and every YEAR 2,102,400 more children become orphans
143,000,0002 Orphans in the world today spend an average of 10 years in an orphanage or foster home
Approximately 250,000 children are adopted annually. But…every YEAR 14,050,000 children still grow up as orphans and AGE OUT of the system
Every DAY 38,493 children AGE OUT and every 2.2 SECONDS, another orphan child AGES OUT with no family to belong to and no place to call home
15% of children who age out of an orphanage commit suicide before age 18.
60% of the girls are lured into prostitution. 70% of the boys become hardened criminals.
Many of these children accept job offers that ultimately result in their being sold as slaves. Millions of girls are sex slaves today, simply because they were unfortunate enough to grow up as orphans.
Reliable statistics are difficult to find, even the sources often list only estimates, and street children are rarely included. But even if these figures are exaggerated by double, it is still an unacceptable tragedy that over a Million children would still become orphans every year, and every year 7 Million children would still grow to adulthood as orphans with no one to belong to and no place to call home.
Note* To AGE OUT means to grow to the age where a child is forced to leave the orphanage or foster home with no place to call home
I am willing J but how?
There are two things YOU can do:
Drop notebooks and stationeries in the drop box.
Donate fund for notebooks and stationeries.
As a matter of fact you can do both J
Where?
Drop box for notebooks, stationeries and funds are placed on the 1st Floor Reception.
(please donate the funds in cover with your name)
When?
From August 11th to August 13th
Thanks

You can meet and speak to them and bring joy as they are looking for company.
Those who can render physical service can work as volunteers.

2009 New Year - updates.

The response to celebrate the New Year-2009 with underprivileged was excellent last year. There were large No of HCLites girls and boys with their family members. The complete catering management for the whole day was run by HCL volunteers. HCLites also helped in terms of gifts and money. The gifts were more than enough and left over gifts will be given to leprosy home. Orphans and blind from 16 different organizations came and they were about 1000 in number. People from all walks of life came and participated and contributed.

We did not see the sad faces normally we come across from the inmates of these organizations. It was nice to see the orphans and blind trying their dance to the music played loudly by the blind band. They had plenty to eat for the whole day. We also received mails from volunteers thanking for organizing this and their satisfaction of starting the New Year in a noble way.

At 26, A Guardian of 26 - HCL CSC leader in media news....

We all should be proud of Daniel in our team who has been very instrumental for FNP (friend in need program) as mentioned in the news media.
We are planning to send out the below mail to all HCLT Chennai employees and looking for all of your support.
Also I am glad if any of you give any inputs or feedbacks on the below content before sending it to all Chennai HCLites..

So far as part of our Friend in Need Program in helping the orphanages we have restricted ourselves to the city limits. Now we have a chance to reach to the southern tip of India and help our HCL colleague who needs our help to continue his noble work.

Some of you are aware that our Daniel Jeganathan working in Amb 6 is running an orphanage home and it was also highlighted in the media. It all started from his college days when he and his friends were helping the orphans and he started the orphanage with five children and now he has 26 children. The children are managed in small leased building and his own house. This house is just next to the road without any elbow space. He is not able to help any more besides he is facing the following crisis.

To renew the license the govt officials want him to shift to a place with better infrastructure.
The lease of the building is also coming to an end and the future of the 26 children is in stake.

He has identified a land where he can construct a building. The local people also have come forward to help him but that it is not sufficient. Now he needs another four plus lakhs to finalize the land. If we can help with more funds that will be used for construction. The property will be in the name of “MY people ” trust. The orphanage is at present functioning at 68/70 Lousiammal st, Nagercoil, 629001.To know more details please go through the following site.

https://hcltmail-chn.hcl.in/OWA/redir.aspx?C=0b082d4e20484475b9dd747ef5040511&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.mypeopleindia.org%2f

We should feel proud to have such a colleague among us and the time has come to help him. CSC has decided to appeal for help to the Chennai HCLites. It is genuine case for help and CSC has assessed the condition on ground by paying a visit to that orphanage. How can you help?

You can draw a cheque in favor of the below trust and hand it over to you building CSC leader or the deputy leader and send a mail to: https://hcltmail-chn.hcl.in/OWA/redir.aspx?C=0b082d4e20484475b9dd747ef5040511&URL=mailto%3aDaniel_j%40hcl.in and https://hcltmail-chn.hcl.in/OWA/redir.aspx?C=0b082d4e20484475b9dd747ef5040511&URL=mailto%3akarunanidhik%40hcl.in . If you want to hand over cash you may do so to the CSC leaders and intimate through mail. The contact details of CSC leaders are attached.

You may also do on line transfer to the following banks and intimate the details by mail. The donations will be tax exempted under 80 G of IT Act. You will get the receipts from this trust.
