Multi-Organ Donation Camp

The Community Service Council of HCL Technologies, Chennai in association with MOHAN Foundations organized an Organ Donation Camp in their Ambattur-6 facility on 27th,March ’08. This being a first ever corporate initiative on Organ Donation in India, many employees including the managers and GMs were present. The inaugural function which took place in a very informal ambiance, in the cafĂ© of the company attracted many software geeks to give a thought about the Myths and Facts about organ donation. Dr. Sunil Shroff, and Dr. Sumana from MOHAN Foundation gave a short and sharp presentation as how brain death occurs, how to donate the organ and what are the possible organs that can be donated. DR.Shroff who addressed the gathering told that they are working for the promotion of donation and awareness of cadaver donation.

Mr. Ravi Kishore, who heads the Community Service Council, HCL and a Deputy General Manager there, told that this in a kick off function and this camp will be organized nation wide in all the HCL offices in Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Noida and Hyderabad with the help of MOHAN Foundation.

The employees raised so many doubts on organ donation. MOHAN foundation also issued donor cards to the interested people and delivered brochures explaining organ donation.

THE Community Service Council Team from HCL Ambattur-6 was happy that the event was a big success in its aim of creating the awareness to the employees.

The event also gained media attention and there was an exclusive coverage from NDTV.

Lesson of this Camp : So far,there is no repository things in government hospitals for organs.we are going to conduct this organ donation camp in all over India and will get sign from all employees regarding government should start organ bank and will suggest government to initiate the organ bank(repository things)in government hospitals.
