Multi-Organ Donation Camp

Hi All,

The Community Service Council of HCL Technologies, Chennai in association with MOHAN Foundations organized an Organ Donation Camp in their Ambattur-6 facility on 27th,March ’08. This being a first ever corporate initiative on Organ Donation in India, many employees including the managers and GMs were present. The inaugural function which took place in a very informal ambiance, in the cafĂ© of the company attracted many software geeks to give a thought about the Myths and Facts about organ donation. Dr. Sunil Shroff, and Dr. Sumana from MOHAN Foundation gave a short and sharp presentation as how brain death occurs, how to donate the organ and what are the possible organs that can be donated. DR.Shroff who addressed the gathering told that they are working for the promotion of donation and awareness of cadaver donation.

Mr. Ravi Kishore, who heads the Community Service Council, HCL and a Deputy General Manager there, told that this in a kick off function and this camp will be organized nation wide in all the HCL offices in Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Noida and Hyderabad with the help of MOHAN Foundation.

The employees raised so many doubts on organ donation. MOHAN foundation also issued donor cards to the interested people and delivered brochures explaining organ donation.

THE Community Service Council Team from HCL Ambattur-6 was happy that the event was a big success in its aim of creating the awareness to the employees.

The event also gained media attention and there was an exclusive coverage from NDTV.

Lesson of this Camp : So far, there is no repository things in government hospitals for organs.we are going to conduct this organ donation camp in all over India and will get sign from all employees regarding government should start organ bank and will suggest government to initiate the organ bank(repository things)in government hospitals.

Regards,

CSC-AMB6

Blood Donation Camp-2

As one the HCL Corporate wide CSC initiative ; Voluntary Blood Donation camp happened on 5th & 6th Feb 2008,Jeevan Blood Bank conducted the camp.

The total donors are around 85.Thanks for your voluntary service.

"If you began donating blood at age 18 and donated every 90 days until you reached 60,you would have donated about 50 liters of blood, potentially saving over 500 lives!"

Lesson of this camp : We should give chance to government blood banks comparing private blood banks, then only our service will reach to poor.We are going to follow this principle in future camps.

We have adopted CHILD

This information is to raise fund for an NGO named "CHILD" which is in Annai Nagar,Korratur, here is a brief information about CHILD

CHILD is an NGO started and run by Mr.Senthil for children who turned to be orphans because of their parents infected with HIV. The children at CHILD are tested and approved to be HIV negative. Senthil was working in KMC under HIV blood testing unit, he was earning a salary of amount Rs.7000/month.as his contract period finished now he is working in one private concern and earning around Rs.4000/- Right now there are around 20 children's at home and the total expense for the home amounts to 37,200 /month. The fund income for this home is too less, as a result the infrastructure is too poor and Senthil also finds it hard to manage the expenses for the home.

This CHILD infrastructure is very bad and worst and it seems to get very worst during rainy days.

Senthil and children's at home really in need of fund to run the home happily and also to join few other such children's to home. Who ever is willing can do your best help to these children in what ever way you want to do.

Every month in the first weekend we, the below listed members would visit CHILD. Who ever is willing can pass their contribution to us or come along with to lend you helping hand directly for the children's at home.
