REAP Program

It’s our pleasure to share with you the Grand Success of REAP (Rural Education Development and Awareness Program) on Saturday 9th July with SMILE. The program has given the confidence to around 1500 students from Cheyyar to dream big and work towards their career.

We collected Rs 2930 for buying trophy for school students.

It has been possible only because of all your wholehearted support and good wishes which has been the driving force to us.

We provided nearly 505 saplings to campus HCL employees on 6th may 2011

Helping hand to support poor's education

Ashok Kumar is basically from poor family background, His father is no more and mother is illiterate(house wife)and sick.He has a sister, she is working in some private school as a teacher and getting very less salary with that they could able to manage food, rent and other expenses.He has finished his UG(BA Economics) in Loyola, he managed the fees with part time job salary.

But Ashok is interested to study MBA degree.Since the semester fees looks bit big amount, we need your helping hand to pay the fees.
(He has to get the part time job and manage the remaining semester fees.)

Eventhough he is average in his curriculum, he is very much interested in studies to build up his family condition. We want to support his studies as he is first degree holder in his family and as that might change his family condition.

Helping hand to differently abled education

We met one guy name is Rajan(differently abled, he got affected in polio) in the train who is begging for his degree(Doing BCom first year in madras university,distance education) completion.he had college ID card with him.

He is married and living with 2 children(1 child is studying LKG and another one is just born)in near to avadi police station(it will come in avadi market toward to avadi railway station). His wife is going to house keeping work and earning 2000 per month.I thought to arrange house keeping work for her in HCL with the help of porres but she cant come to outside work till their 2nd child grows atleast to 1 year.They don’t have any support from their family also.

In future,we can arrange job for them but now we can support to complete his degree. He has paid first year fees (2400),he needs to pay 2nd year fees on June.I think easily we can afford for this(we can directly go to the university and pay the fees,I will take care of that).

We met rajan in his house on today June 15th 2011. He needs to pay his 2nd year college fee on coming may only.
But he was expecting to pay his son’s school fee on today so we had gone to his school and paid the fee.
We had collected Rs 3300 (In that we have spent Rs 2525 for school fee, remaining 800[rounded] with me for spending their future need)from our employees.

We want to support rajan’s family till he completes his B.Com degree. Once he completed his degree, we can get some decent job for him and for his wife too (Now she is not able to go to any job as their 2nd child is having only 5 months but she is going to house work with taking her child and earning Rs 300 per month) ,after that they can able to take care of them and their children.

We are planning to join their first child to any govt aided school once he completed U.K.G (as school fee is more in private) and rajan is trying to get some low rental house as current house rent is somewhat unaffordable for them and we are trying to get family card to them,it will be useful for them in many ways (to get free rice and to get benefit in the name of differently abled quota)
Currently he is managing everything with his begging and with his wife’s mom’s little support (she is also selling things in the train and educating her’s 2 daughters)

We have provided Rs 3000 to him for fixing 2 wheels for handicapt scooter.

CRR - 9

Status update of CRR 9 (June 11,2011)

1.Not able to identify the child labor in below shop…
Sri Ragavendara Iyengar Bakery,
394 School road,Anna Nagar West,Chennai – 40 (Just opposite to SBOA School)
I request you(whom are staying around the above address) to verify the case and let me know so that we can inform to CHILD HELP LINE to take further action.

2.We identified below child labor near Iyappan Temple,Anna nagar.
Name :- Altrin (Age around 15,Have Studied till 6th …)
Father’s Name :- Kannan (Died in road accident on 2006)
Mother’s Name :- Rosi (Handicapped)
House located in neduvangarai,near Shanthi colony main road.
Rosi is running raagi porridge business in moving push cart near by her house(She is struggling lot to place the cart in the Shanthi colony main road) with the help of her’s son and apart from this, altrin is collecting some old cardboards,selling in to shop’s and earning some money.
Rosi doesn’t have any objection to send her’s son to school (as we told that we are sponsoring…)but she is expecting some permanent place to keep the cart.So we are having 2 options to resolve this case…
Identify permanent place for her business and sponsoring altrin’s education.
Motivating and helping altrin to achieve in the business.

CRR7 and CRR8 Status and Verification

CRR-8 (09.04.2011)
1.Rescued one child (mala kondaiya,age 9) from ayanavaram police station
Status:- He had missed out from his house,he is mentally ill.
Verification:- We directly went to his house(which is in the housing board,koyyathoppu,pudhupet) and verified,he is having 2 more younger brother also (one brother is studying in corporation school,another younger brother is in the age of 2),We are trying mala kondaiya to join in to any home.(Attached his photo and his family photo).

2.Not allowing children's(asisi (a) bhima 9 age,vargith 5 age) to school
Status & Verification:- Due to their parents’ divorce case process,children's education is getting spoil. We are waiting for their legal process to finish. We directly went to their mom's house(which is in villivakam) and verified.

3.Not allowing children's(Indumathi & Sindhu)to school
Status & Verification:- We directly went to their place (senneerkuppam,near poondamalle)but unfortunately we are not able to identify their house as they changed the house and no one is available also in the new house.

4.Tea shop in vadapazhani - 1 child labor (suresh age 17)
Status & Verification:- We have asked his parents to allow him for technical training from june onwards. We are tracking it.

5.Hotel in vadapazhani - 1 child labor (mani age 17)
Status & Verification :- He has to finish his plus 2 arrears on coming oct,after that we are planning to support for his education or technical training.

6.Hotel in vadapazhani(1 child labor manirool in the age of 18)& Mechanic shop in thirumangalam(1 child labor in the age of 18)
Status & Verification :- We are not able to rescue them as their age more than 18 and more over they are not at all interested in education or in any technical trainings. They are only the earning members in their family.We have provided our contact numbers to them if they need educational help for their brother’s and sister’s.

CRR-7 (08.01.2011)

1.Jayanthi Chicken Shop(Opposite to anna arch) – 2 child labors(china karuppu & aravind) in the age of 17 & 18
Status:- we didn’t rescue them as their age almost more than 18 but we have got their parents contact numbers as they are willing to study, we are talking to their parents for sponsoring study for their children.
Verification:- We have talked to their parents and convincing them to make their children's for higher studies or for any technical education. We are tracking it.

2.Sri Amman tiffin center – 2 child labors (ajith & palanisamy)in the age of 13 & 15
Status:- we have rescued them and have produced in CWC.we didn’t get the contact number for their parents as they don’t have.we have got the contact number of the shop owners. We are tracking it…
(CWC has put fine amount 10,000 to the shop owner and that amount has deposited in the name of child )
Verification:- Not able to identify their contact numbers.

3.Hotel in padi – 1 child labor (ajith kumar)in the age of 14
Status:- we couldn’t rescue the child as that owner seems big shot in the area,we need to rescue with the help of police and labor inspectors in CRR 8.
Verification:- Still pending...

4.Sri Venkateshwara hotel – 1 child labor(murari)in the age of 15
Status:- we have rescued the child with the help of police,we didn’t get the parents contact no as they don’t have.we have got the contact number of owner. We are tracking it…
(CWC has put fine amount 15,000 to the shop owner and that amount has deposited in the name of child )
Verification:- He(murari) went to his native.

5.Cycle shop in mugappair – 1 child labor(gnanaprakash)in the age of 14
Status & Verification :- We have talked to his parents to allow him for technical training.Hopefully we can do some needful to him as his parents also willing. We are tracking it.

Future Plan
Planning to do the next CRR activity once we satisfied with CRR 7 & CRR 8 (once we rehabilitated and supported children’s education or technical training)
Planning to do the short film for CRR to take it as next level.

25 rupees movement

We have provided Rs 1750 for poor lady(parvathi from thiruvanmyur) medical expenses (backbone problem)


Parvathi, the lady, suffers from back ache related illness as a result she has to take medicines and injections for the next few months.
she works as maid in two houses. Recently she fell sick and had to be hospitalized and blood was donated and subsequently the doctor has advised treatment
for the next few months.
Her husband Alex, who works as a cook in a tea stall, he prepares items lost his job because he had to be with his wife in the hospital
and the owner has replaced another person in the place of Alex. He is searching for a job but getting one.

Sreevidya(the one who has raised the below request) is the active part-time social worker and she supported for anitha sri’s medical expenses in some extent along with her friends.
We directly went and verified the below case on last friday.

CRR Activity 7

Our CRR-Activity 7 happened successfully on 08/01/2011. I would like to thank to Child Help Line(CHL) Members.Also would like to thank the HCL-CRR volunteers who made their presence in this activity.My special thanks to Samson, KK and Porres for their support and Ms.Sridevi(Child Help Line Project Leader)for arranging their team members for us. Below members will take care of this activity… Ganesan Mani & Mahalingam Kesavan Periyathambi 2.Rehabiliting child labor’s with the help of police - Myself and KK are in touch with the police dept for rehabilitating the child labor’s(which govt is rescuing) to the home which we are referring…Swati Sudhansu has listed out the home details. We will talk to the police dept with the home details once election finished.

Request to buy 2011 fund raising calendar - for building 2 orphanages for the poor and abandoned children

We are selling the 2011 table top calendars for constructing home building in Baster(Chattisgarh) and Jhansi(UP) and to CHILD Home building construction and as well as ITU Stipend.

We are selling the calendars for Rs 100 each,apart from the production cost remaining amount will go to fund raise for constructing building.

Helping Hands to support Child,Father and Mother

We have collected nearly Rs 63,208 from our HCL employees and providing support to below requests... Anitha sri(3 year old) who is suffering from aplastic anemia (rare blood disorder) - Have given 40000 & 2750 so far.,
Pon Rose who is suffering for kidney failure (dialysis) - Have given 10000 sofar.,
Radha krishnan who is suffering for acute lukemia (advance stage) - Have given 10000 sofar.,
We have given Rs 3960 to the govt school kabadi team,chengalpattu to buy chorts and banyan

Contribution for ITU

We have contributed Rs 2500 for differently abled stipend to ITU (Industry Therapy Unit)on 29th of Jan,2011 and Rs 5000 on July 2011.
